I got my first radio interview. 700WLW out of Cincinnati.

Bad News!

It was these guys.

The interview went about as well as you would expect…

You gotta get on WKRP in Cincinnati next time.

  2. Athol Kay says:

It would have been better lol.

Gotta link so we can listen?

Unfortunately you have to sit through just over 20 minutes of drivel to finally get to Athol, and then they ask him the most stupid questions. He at least tried to take advantage of the situation a few times with joking remarks and the like but not only did they continually interrupt him and ask him exceedingly personal questions, they seemed to take the whole thing as some kind of joke.

Oh well. Any publicity is good publicity, right?

  5. Athol Kay says:

Oh fantastic. There's a permanent record of that?

    Good grief.

  6. paige says:

I was amused by your thick accent.

  7. Mike says:

Feel free to take the comment down if you'd like.

  8. Athol Kay says:

No worries Mike. It's just awful though isn't it lol.

    Paige – Yeah, yeah.

  9. HeatherY says:

That made me extremely embarrassed for THEM.

I'll bet Howard Stern would be interested in interviewing you. He might be intimidating, but I bet he'd be genuinely interested.

Dr. Laura, too – your book is THAT universal. Haven't you said there are some Christian media entities interested, too?

I was thinking of commenting on Stern's & Dr. Laura's facebook or tweeting them – to promote your book, but maybe that's a bit presumptuous?

  10. Athol Kay says:

HeatherY – go for it! It sounds better coming from someone other than me.

  11. Tinderbox says:

FYI, the show can be fast-forwarded by clicking on the little gray bar at the bottom just above the pause button.

Interesting to hear your voice after all this time. These interviewers weren't very good. It wasn't even clear that you were there to promote your book, rather than as some Ripley's curiosity who's had a lot of sex with his wife.

For future interviews like this, you need to have your script and talking points ready to go and just spit it out almost regardless of what questions or nonsense the DJs are saying. Speak faster and more confidently, and don't be afraid to interrupt or speak over them — more cocky alpha and less polite beta! ;)
