We had a big spike in book sales overnight. Jennifer and I basically high-fived each other and had breakfast, but no clue why.
Then my sister sent me this link… (UPDATE: Link expired)
I can’t figure out if there is a way to get the video embedded into the blog, but I promise that you will utterly shit yourself laughing if you go watch it.
UPDATE: It went onto YouTube…
If anyone can tell me what they are saying in the video I would love to know. I actually think it’s in Hong Kong somewhere based on the “hk” tag in the video. So they will have a lot of English speakers there, so yay sales!
UPDATE: A wonderful reader provided a translation in the comments below.
Headline: “Hot” American Couple – Married for 16 years, they make love nightly.
An American man Athol Kay, married to his wife for 16 years with 2 children, makes love to his wife every night. With rough estimates at 5000 nights of lovemaking, he has published a book and has shared the secrets of the bedroom with males.
According to HK AppleDaily, Athol thinks that post-marriage still needs to maintain attraction, put effort to maintain desire, say sweet things the wife wants to hear, and occasionally go on dates etc. Also, two daily kisses should be at least 10 seconds ; sex 2 times a week.
So anyway…
This is kinda how I feel today.
I seriously can’t stop laughing though, it’s getting beyond anything I can hope to control, so I’m just going to enjoy the ride.

Most of the Americans can be stupid when it comes to stuff like this, I'am sure its madarin chinese though.
Haha, it's in Cantonese, which works with the .hk tag. No idea what they're saying though. Did you have anything to do with this?
LOL how could I have anything to do with this???
The Daily Mail piece seems to have sparked a few other things.
No wait…
That's me in the pig mask!
Definitely Hong Kong. The characters are traditional Chinese characters, not simplified, which means Honk Kong or Taiwain – and they don't speak Cantonese in Taiwan.
Link is broken on Apple Daily's side. I am trying to find the source page, and will translate back!
Ok, I'm back. Apparently the video has expired from the Taiwan AppleDaily site, but from the 4/30th date and the headline, I've found summaries of the video from people reblogging it.

I guess the video used your wedding photo too Athol! Congrats:

OK, the Christmas music in the video was a bit disconcerting.
But still, publicity is publicity.
Thanks so much for the translation!
And I found the video on YouTube!
Oh. My. Dear. Sweet. Lord.
*snort*
Although, I'm kinda sorry to have the translation, it was much more fun in my own head.
You also got a mention on Instapundit yesterday, so that might translate into some more hits.
Even though you are an atheist, I think a lot of Christians would be interested in your book. Maybe reach out to Christian blogs, radio, etc.?
I'm not opposed to that Anon. It may come in time.
Translator here. The video only goes with with the standard Athol lines: sex 5000 times, married 16 years, dates, 10 sec kisses, and the fact that the book is out.
The part about the wedding was that maybe the kiss from the wedding of the century wasn't long enough by Athol's standards. "Maybe wives need a stopwatch?"
Oh Athol! You finally got a horrible Appledaily CGI video made out of your book. Never thought I'd see the day….
Ah ha. I was wondering what the royal wedding bit was all about.
@Athol:
I lived in China (mainland) for a few years and your advice would be just as relevant over there as here. Human nature is human nature regardless of culture, have you thought about getting the primer translated?
Also: In buying your book, which delivery method nets you the most royalty money? I'm assuming the Lulu option, or does it not make a difference?
Translations maybe next time Phil.
I get about the same royalty across all the formats.
Lulu it is then.
